Not So Boar'N Hunts - Jon Cook

Jon Cook

Jon has grown up hunting hogs.

As a small boy his dad took him out hunting with dogs until he was about 15 and old enough to start running his own set of dogs himself.

"There's nothing more rewarding for me than to take someone on their first dog hunt and to see the excitement on their face when we get the first one bayed up".

Jon is also an expert at trapping and snaring hogs bug hunting with dogs and knives is in his blood.

Not So Boar'N Hunts - Randy Roberson

Randy Roberson

Randy Roberson has been hunting all of his life. For him hunting is a passion that will never die. He is a true outdoorsman in every sense of the word.

He enjoys all types of hunting no matter if he is preparing a prime hunting spot for deer, stalking predators or chasing hogs on foot beside his dogs. To him there is nothing like the sound of the dogs baying in the distance.

The pride in knowing the dogs have done their job and the rush of not knowing exactly what he will see when they catch up to the dogs is an adrenaline rush and keeps

Randy going back to the woods every chance he gets.

Randy has hunted with a gun most of his life but after experiencing the natural high he got after stabbing his first hog he now usually chooses to leave his trusty rifles at home.

Randy’s philosophy in life is, “The good Lord put many kinds of plentiful animals on this earth, so it’s time to start hunting.”

Hunting Dogs

We use a combination of Catahoulas, Black Mouth Curs, Catahoula/Cur Crosses for bay dogs and Pit Bulls for catch dogs.

The job of the bay dogs is to roam the woods sniffing out trails and searching for the hogs.

Once they are on a trail they'll find and surround the hogs and stop them in their tracks by barking or "baying them up".

Once we move in close it's time to release the catch dogs and they'll quickly rush to the barking bay dogs and grab the hogs by the head to hold them in place so we can move in for the kill.

Our dogs are like family and we take great care and provide them with as much protection as possible through the use of cut vests and collars and the absolute best training possible.

Not So Boar'N Hunts - Hunting Dogs
Our dogs have been trained to hunt hogs only and to ignore cattle and other animals that are often encountered during a hunt.

Hunting with trained working dogs is something you have to experience to fully understand.
